Join us for an evening of exciting food and esteemed company at Mortimer House

While the Sublime communication machine has been on the quieter side these past few months, we've been squirrelling away in the proverbial kitchen to bring you something exquisite.

In partnership with our good friends at Mortimer House, we are delighted to invite you to our very first Sublime Butter Club. We're conscious that there is no real precedent or benchmark for such a thing, so as ever, we're determined to set the bar exceptionally high.

In essence, this extraordinary little club takes the best parts of fine dining, social intimacy, and Sublime butter and rolls them into one — all while celebrating the very pinnacle of creative cooking.

We think that Mortimer House — an elegant yet understated members' club in the heart of Fitzrovia — is just the right setting for such a thing. It has all the trappings of a high society hideaway with just the right amount of fuzziness around the edges. In our view, an evening of lovely food, drinks and laughter there is quite special in its own right.

But, as you know, we're not ones for half measures. The menu — designed by our own resident butter aficionado and chef, Tony Ho — needs to be tasted to be believed. Featuring a range of our Ridiculous butters, put to expert use in novel ways, every course challenges the boundaries of what food and flavour can be — all while somehow managing to stay on the comforting end of the fine dining spectrum.

Tony was keen not to give too much away though, and we could only extract the following from him. "It'll be great to be back in the kitchen; serving people is a joy. Plus, this menu is a lot of fun. The whole night will be. It's East-meets-West, but it's also very much about amazing quality ingredients — butter in particular. In that respect, it's going to be completely outrageous."

From a man with such fine dining pedigree, that should really pique your curiosity. Amongst many other things, Tony was mentored by Raymond Blanc, operated his own restaurant — The Penny Black, famed for its beef wellington — and won the 2002 World Cocktail Championships. He also cooks privately for celebrities and heads of state. That's your chef, ladies and gents.

Here's something we did manage to get past the embargo, just to whet the whistle: Akami tuna tartare, bonito, sesame, black truffle, caviar, 1000-layer potato cooked in truffle, parmesan & black pepper butter (Sublime No. 12). As starters go, it's pretty damn exciting. It pushes the boat out with aplomb, but before you feel too far out of your comfort zone, you're pulled right back in again to warm, decadent familiarity. A voyage, presented artfully, right there on your plate. There's so much more besides, including a few hidden surprises that are certain to delight.

The Butter Club will be set across two days — the 19th-20th April — at Mortimer House, Fitzrovia. There'll be an early sitting and a late sitting on each day, and spaces are excruciatingly limited. To secure your tickets, head to the Mortimer House website as they're kindly handling all of that good stuff directly. Speaking of tickets, it's £65 a head (not including wine). For four courses of this caliber, we think that's exceptional value.

We're looking forward to seeing you there! It's going to be an absolute treat.
